Vintage Comic Books
The time to buy older comic books
has never been better. The value you receive with vintage comics
is tremendous compared to the cost of new comic books today. Comic
books from the 1940's and early 1950's are rare in high grade
conditions. As we entered the later 1950's and into the early
1960's, sales on comics slowed up, so they were printed cheaper
- which means high grade comics from this period are also rare.
With the mid 1960's into the 1970's, comics sales were on the
upswing and more people started to save them. Higher grade comics
from this period are more common than the other periods. When
you consider how few of these comics exist in any collectible
shape compared to the new issue market, you will begin to appreciate
the true scarcity of these early comics.

Grading Guide
Mint (M)
- the flavor of my favorite ice cream. Almost no such thing when
it comes to older comics.
Near Mint
(NM) - my highest grade. A virtually perfect comic in every way.
Just like it came off the newstand.
Very Fine
(VF) - this is an excellent high grade copy that looks almost
new despite it's age with no major defects.
Fine (F)
- this is an above average copy that shows minor wear from being
read but is clean with nice pages. A copy in Fine condition is
a nice collectible copy that you will not have to upgrade (unless
you desire).
Very Good
(VG) - this is the average used comic book. A copy in VG is still
a nice copy, but has started to accumulate some total minor defects
that make it show it's age. It will have some discoloration, soiling,
minor tears or folds, and browning of cover or pages. A VG copy
will not have any tape, loose staples on pages or any chunks or
pieces missing off of pages or covers larger than an 1/8".
Still a nice copy.
Good (G)
- a copy in Good is a well read comics that is 100% complete,
but has enough total minor defects that make it the lowest in
the collectible range. It can have some tape, crease, folds or
a combination of all. The paper quality can be low but will not
be brittle.
Fair - this
will have all the pages and covers, although there can be pieces
missing up to 2-3". It will be readable, and is considered
a spacefiller until a better one comes along.

I have been asked why there are
so many sold comics listed on this site, and why don't I delete
the item once sold. Every different comic scanned is left up for
picture reference purposes. I know I like seeing books that I
haven't seen before. I hope you do too. Enjoy!
